Metallica and Adidas Team Up for Exclusive Apparel Collection Ahead of Las Vegas Sphere Residency

Adidas is expanding its footprint in the heavy music space, moving from nu-metal into classic thrash with a newly announced partnership. Following a successful multi-year run of collections with Korn that began in 2023, the German sportswear giant has now tapped heavy metal legends Metallica to create an exclusive apparel line.

The collaborative collection arrives just in time for the band’s massive 24-show residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, titled "Life Burns Faster." The residency, which kicks off on Thursday, features 360-degree visuals and promises a completely unique setlist for every single concert. To mark the occasion, Adidas and Metallica have designed a diverse assortment of tops spanning men’s, women’s, and kids’ sizing. The range leans heavily into vintage 1980s aesthetics, blending athletic heritage with classic metal iconography, and certain pieces will remain exclusive to the concert venue.

For fans unable to make the trip to Nevada, the collaboration will also see a digital release through the official websites of both Metallica and Adidas. The online drop on the Adidas platform features a curated run of T-shirts, including classic ringer tees and three-quarter length sleeve shirts. These items proudly display Adidas’s signature Three Stripes motif along the shoulders paired with Metallica’s instantly recognizable text treatment emblazoned across the chest. Select variants incorporate the classic Adidas Trefoil logo alongside original graphics for a distinct crossover look.

While the digital rollout currently highlights the T-shirt assortment, additional pieces from the collection—including tank tops, hoodies, and crewneck sweatshirts—have been produced for the residency, though their digital release has not yet been confirmed by the brands. The collaboration bridges the worlds of high-performance sportswear and historic heavy metal merchandise, reflecting a growing trend of cross-genre partnerships within the fashion and lifestyle sectors.

This partnership represents the latest chapter in Adidas’s strategic alignment with iconic musical acts, particularly within the rock and metal genres. The brand’s previous major foray into heavy music came via its linkup with Korn. That collaboration resonated deeply with fans, capitalising on the band’s long-standing history of wearing Adidas gear on stage—most famously immortalized by their song "A.D.I.D.A.S.," which playfully stood for "All Day I Dream About Sex." Spanning three distinct drops between October 2023 and 2024, the Korn partnership delivered an array of apparel alongside chunky sneaker silhouettes like the Campus 00s and Supermodified, which intentionally channeled late-1990s and early-2000s subculture styling.

For Metallica, the Adidas collaboration is part of a broader push into footwear and apparel partnerships throughout 2026. Earlier in the year, the band aligned with brands like Wolverine and Dr. Martens for specialized footwear releases, further cementing their enduring presence in contemporary fashion and consumer goods.
