The ambitious design concept unfolded across the venue with meticulous attention to detail, beginning with the ceremony space. Extrafloral Studio constructed breathtaking cherry blossom arches that towered over the proceedings, echoing the natural botanical elements of the garden while leaning heavily into the requested color palette. The vibrant floral narrative continued seamlessly down the reception tables, where Cygnet Events and Design arranged striking blocks of spring tulips in various shades of pink, creating a lush, immersive garden landscape for guests.
The aesthetic commitment carried straight through to the evening’s festivities, highlighted by bespoke stationery from Steracle Press. Guests found their seats greeted by shell-shaped menus, each delicately designed to hold a handwritten personal note nestled inside like a pearl. Meanwhile, a show-stopping centerpiece awaited the couple on the dance floor: a custom-fabricated, hot pink clamshell stage constructed by Parade Float Rentals and Mobile Stage Network. To source a piece that was both whimsically themed and structurally sound enough to withstand an evening of dancing, the design team partnered with a parade float company, resulting in a completely unique focal point for the reception.
Abby matched the high-concept design with a striking fashion ensemble of her own. She walked down the aisle in a custom Mira Couture gown, complete with a matching veil and tiara. For footwear, she secured a rare fashion coup: the only pink pair of the coveted Cinderella crystal shoes by Jimmy Choo in existence, which had to be specially shipped in from a boutique in Asia. Groom Nick complemented the bride’s vibrant aesthetic in a sharp, tailored suit crafted by Nicholas Joseph.
The Planning and Vision
The creative journey behind the celebration was rooted in whimsy and personal romance. Conceptualized as a whimsical seaside fairytale, the design leaned heavily into Abby’s initial directives of a bold pink palette, ultra-feminine styling, and a personalized performance platform. Rather than treating the dancing stage as an afterthought, the planning team built the entire aesthetic motif around marine elements, incorporating shell motifs, pearls, and coastal undertones into the otherwise garden-centric venue.
The romance that led to the altar was equally personalized. The proposal took place at the start of Abby’s birthday month, orchestrated by Nick in one of the couple’s most cherished urban sanctuaries: the Chicago Riverwalk. Having spent countless hours walking, talking, and building their relationship along the waterfront, the location held profound sentimental value. Following a leisurely lunch together, Nick popped the question along the walkway, and Abby accepted. True to their playful aesthetic, the newly engaged couple celebrated their milestone at another favorite local haunt, the Museum of Ice Cream, during its seasonal Pinkmas celebration.

Among the most visually arresting culinary moments of the dinner service was a burrata salad accented with pickled rhubarb and vadouvan, finished with a delicate garnish of edible flowers.
Rather than incorporating a traditional cake-cutting ceremony, the couple opted for a modern, relaxed approach to dessert, offering freshly sliced cake as part of a dedicated sweets station.
The evening’s musical selections offered another nod to the couple’s connection to urban romance. For their first dance, Abby and Nick selected "Setting Sail," the theme song from the critically acclaimed television anthology Modern Love, which chronicles various relationships unfolding across New York City. The track served as a fitting soundtrack for the culmination of their own romance in the heart of the city.
