When planning a wedding, couples anticipate a certain amount of stress, but few expect to completely rebuild their logistical plans just six weeks before their big day. For Julie and Justin, however, a sudden crisis involving zoning and guest-count restrictions meant their original venue could no longer host them. Faced with the daunting prospect of starting over from scratch with only weeks to spare, their planning team executed a remarkable pivot, securing an entirely new location along with a brand-new catering and beverage team. The swift overhaul required bringing in essential event infrastructure, including restrooms, while faithfully preserving the original design and experience Julie and Justin had envisioned for friends and family traveling from all around the globe. Seeing the celebration come together so seamlessly in its new setting ultimately made the milestone feel even more meaningful for everyone involved.
The unexpected new property added an enchanting layer of charm to the proceedings, featuring elements that quickly became defining highlights of the weekend. Guests arriving for cocktail hour were treated to freshly shucked oysters served poolside, while horses roaming the picturesque property added a rustic, serene backdrop to the festivities.
Food & Drink
Culinary and beverage offerings throughout the weekend were approached with the same celebratory, welcoming spirit that defined the rest of the gathering. Plated dishes were designed to center around creating a memorable, shared experience for guests, encouraging everyone to gather, linger, and enjoy the relaxed garden-party atmosphere before the evening naturally transitioned into dancing.
The hospitality did not end with dinner. As a playful nod to late-night cravings and a tribute to cultural favorites, bubble tea and Taiwanese popcorn chicken were brought in as a comforting end-of-the-night treat for the attendees.
Florals & Decor
Visual design played a central role in the weekend, with florals acting as the literal and figurative heart of the aesthetic. Loose, meadow-inspired arrangements in an expressive palette of lavender, peach, yellow, coral, and plum were crafted to look as though they were growing naturally from the surrounding landscape.
The ceremony aisle was framed by lush layers of wild, textural blooms that softened the space. As the celebration moved indoors for the reception, the garden atmosphere was successfully carried inside through a combination of colorful floral installations, soft draping, warm wood elements, and playful patterned details that gave the space an intimate and vibrant energy.
Wedding Cake
Rather than opting for a single, traditional focal point, the couple embraced a playful approach to dessert. A giant cake display table continued the overarching garden-inspired aesthetic, functioning as an integrated extension of the design rather than a standalone moment. Surrounded by the rich colors and textures utilized throughout the rest of the celebration, the display featured a total of 10 distinct cakes, anchored by a larger two-tiered cutting cake. In a unique touch of synchronized hospitality, one cake per table was delivered to guests by the catering staff.
Personal Touches and Cultural Heritage
Julie’s creative vision was deeply woven into the fabric of the wedding, adding a profoundly personal touch to every corner of the event. While living in Taiwan, she custom-designed all three of her wedding looks in collaboration with a local designer. Furthermore, she personally created the entire invitation suite, providing the planning team with beautiful, meaningful design elements that could be carried seamlessly into the broader visual identity of the celebration.
The evening reached emotional and entertaining heights when the formalities gave way to family performances. Julie’s mother and her six aunts took to the dance floor for a series of choreographed routines, delivering a joyful and unexpected surprise that perfectly captured the playful, celebratory spirit of the day and left a lasting impression on all the guests who had traveled near and far to witness the union.
