Travis Kelce Laughs Off Prince William’s Attempt to Move Him From Iconic Taylor Swift Selfie

Published Oct 31, 2026

Remember that iconic Taylor Swift selfie featuring Prince William, his children, and pop culture’s most talked-about couple? Well, Travis Kelce is weighing in on the royal photo moment once again after Prince William shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes insight during a historical appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Travis’s humorous and self-deprecating reaction proves he understands completely why the future King of England might have wanted a little more breathing room in the frame.

During a recent episode of their hit podcast, New Heights, the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end reacted to Prince William’s revelation that he tried to subtly maneuver Kelce out of the way while posing for the now-famous backstage snapshot at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The photograph in question was captured in June 2024, when Swift was lighting up the stage during her record-shattering Eras Tour. Prince William had attended the massive concert alongside his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as part of a royal family outing. Following the unforgettable performance, the royals went backstage to meet the pop superstar, resulting in a casual selfie that quickly became one of the most viral images of the decade.

Travis Kelce's Responds to Prince William Trying to Kick Him Out of Taylor Swift’s Selfie

"I get it, man. I think we all get it. I was just a boyfriend at that point, you know?" the star athlete reflected during the October 28 episode of the podcast.

"I wasn’t her husband yet, you know? We don’t really know if this is gonna last, so it’s kinda just move out of the way real quick so we can keep this photo forever," Kelce continued, eliciting laughs from listeners and his co-host. "Yeah. Hopefully, this doesn’t go south. Otherwise, this photo is not gonna be as good."

The casual selfie served as a major relationship milestone for Swift and Kelce at the time. When the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter posted the photo to her official Instagram account, it marked the first time she had ever shared a picture of herself alongside Kelce on her own social media feed. While the two were already deeply committed to each other when the picture was snapped, their romance continued to blossom over the following year, ultimately leading to their engagement in August 2025.

Fortunately for fans of the global power couple, their romance definitely went the distance. Swift and Kelce officially tied the knot in a high-profile yet deeply romantic ceremony on July 3, 2026, cementing their status as one of the world’s most enduring celebrity pairings.

Travis’s older brother and podcast co-host, Jason Kelce, also chimed in during the episode, agreeing that Prince William’s strategic positioning and desire for a clean royal photo were "very understandable." The athletic brothers even joked about having their New Heights production team digitally edit Travis completely out of the historical photograph, with the football star playfully offering to send the revised version straight to Buckingham Palace for the royal family’s archives.
