The Planning: Design, Vibe, and Vision
When this couple set out to design their dream wedding, they envisioned a celebration that felt like a romantic, elevated European garden party infused with a vibrant, colorful twist. Every element of the day was carefully curated to feel elegant, magical, and deeply personal, while still honoring and embracing the natural beauty of the venue. The property’s ivy-covered architecture, the picturesque outdoor ceremony setting, and the luminous conservatory reception space all served as direct inspiration for the aesthetic. The couple leaned heavily into a lush, storybook garden atmosphere, weaving together layers of abundant florals, a soft yet striking color palette, and whimsical, fun details that captured their personalities and love story.
The foundation of this romantic journey began long before the wedding day, rooted in a proposal story as thoughtful as it was magical. The groom orchestrated an intricate, highly personalized scavenger-hunt date that culminated in a romantic proposal at the Myriad Botanical Gardens during the height of the Christmas season. Each clue handed to the bride throughout the day led them to locations across the city that held special meaning in their relationship. At every single stop along the route, the bride collected keepsake ornaments filled with treasured polaroid memories documenting their time together. The carefully mapped adventure ultimately led her to a magnificent tree illuminated by countless lights and surrounded by flowers. As she took in the breathtaking scene, the groom got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
The Fashion: Elegance and Attire
To match the elevated European garden party aesthetic, the wedding fashion was classic, refined, and impeccably tailored. For her walk down the aisle, the bride wore a stunning, sophisticated wedding gown by renowned designer Caroline Castigliano. The dress captured the timeless grace and effortless elegance of the overall vision, serving as a breathtaking centerpiece as she moved through the lush, garden-inspired surroundings.
Equally polished was the wedding party attire. The groomsmen were outfitted in classic suits from Jos. A. Bank, providing a sharp, timeless look that complemented the romantic atmosphere without overshadowing the vibrant design elements of the day. The careful balance of classic tailoring and high-fashion bridal design set a sophisticated tone for the entire wedding party.
The Details: Food, Florals, and Immersive Design
No detail was overlooked in bringing the couple’s vision to life, beginning with an exceptional culinary experience designed to transport guests straight to the Mediterranean. The evening featured an elevated Italian family-style dinner preceded by a selection of thoughtfully curated passed appetizers. Guests enjoyed fresh burrata served with grapes, artisanal crostini, prosciutto, a crisp chopped salad, tender lemon chicken, traditional linguini and tortellini, and roasted vegetables. The beverage menu was equally refreshing and festive, highlighting a custom mocktail made with strawberry lemonade, passed wines, champagne, and frozen margaritias to keep the celebratory mood light and joyful.
The floral and decor elements served as the narrative thread holding the entire celebration together. The floral design was an explosion of color and texture, featuring lush blue and green hydrangeas, blush peonies, striking yellow tree peonies, green amaranth, ranunculus, garden roses, poppies, sweet peas, and tulips. To amplify the floral impact, the tables were adorned with colorful floral linens that expanded the botanical moment from the centerpieces down to the table runners.
The wedding cake was a masterpiece created by Famous Amy Cakes, featuring a classic four-tier white design adorned with intricate, three-dimensional white-on-white flowers that paid homage to the garden theme in a clean, modern way.
The venue itself was transformed through several breathtaking, custom installations and special design details. The ceremony took place against the natural ivy wall backdrop of the venue’s historic stone barn, which was elevated with a vivid floral installation. Guests walked down an aisle flanked by lush, color-blocked florals that set a vibrant tone for the ceremony.
For the reception, the couple incorporated dramatic and unforgettable special details. The head table was uniquely positioned, sitting directly on top of a lit glass pool floor. The table featured striking floral linens and was crowned with sixteen feet of solid florals paired with classic ivory taper candles, creating an ethereal glow.
Place settings were executed with immense attention to detail, featuring an ivory lace charger, a steel blue Pervinca Ginori dinner plate, and a complementary garden floral salad plate resting beneath embroidered blue linen. Each place setting was completed with an oval menu featuring a light pink floral cutout, alongside a three-dimensional yellow paper floral element and a bespoke green placecard.
