The 36-year-old reality television star first sparked speculation about their past in 2020, when eagle-eyed social media fans noticed the Irish pop superstar among her followers on Instagram. Reflecting on her time in Los Angeles, where she frequently brushed shoulders with international A-listers, KC explained that the romance blossomed during the early 2010s at the height of One Direction’s global domination. The encounter was set into motion when a senior member of the boyband’s management team extended an invitation for her to join a dinner gathering at the Sunset Marquis, a legendary West Hollywood celebrity haunt known for privacy and high-profile patronage.
Unaware of who else would be in attendance, KC walked into the venue only to discover that the chart-topping singer was waiting for her. "I went in and Niall was sitting there and I just played it cool, even though I loved 1D," she recalled during the podcast interview. "We had a dinner. Got along really well. He was super sweet."
Despite the immediate chemistry and smooth conversation, KC decided to play hard to get when the evening came to an end. When Niall asked for her contact information so they could stay in touch, she deliberately resisted giving him her digits directly. "Then when I was leaving, he was like, ‘Can I have your number?’ And I wanted to just play it cool," she explained. "I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, you can just get it off [your manager].’"
Even though she left the venue having withheld her phone number, she admitted that she never genuinely expected to hear from the global boyband superstar again. However, her skepticism was short-lived. Within hours, her phone lit up with an unexpected international call that completely surprised her.
"I kept thinking, ‘Whatever, he’s not gonna message or call me,’" KC recalled. "And then the next day, or it was that night, I had this UK number FaceTiming me, and I’m like, ‘Surely not, surely not.’ And I answer it and it was him!"
Following the late-night FaceTime call, the pair began seeing each other on a regular basis. Given Niall’s immense fame and the hysterical mob culture surrounding One Direction at the time, keeping their meetings quiet required a massive logistical effort. "We went on like two or three dates and then it just wasn’t there," she shared candidly. "As if anything’s going to really happen anyway. He’s touring. He’s got the whole world at his feet. It ain’t gonna be me. But I had fun. It was just a friendly, fun thing."

"One night, we ended up at the studio. This was when they were still together… but you could tell they were going to break up," she recalled.
According to KC, Liam was working on new material and actively looking for a feminine touch to complement his vocals. "Liam was like, ‘I’m in the studio because I want a female vocalist to come in and get on my track and do some harmonies,’" she said.
Always modest about her own musical abilities, KC initially protested that she was not a skilled singer, but Liam quickly brushed aside her concerns, assuring her that technical perfection wasn’t required for what he needed.
