When Madison and Tim began planning their wedding weekend, they envisioned an aesthetic that felt simultaneously timeless and relaxed. Drawing inspiration from a refined coastal classicism reminiscent of a Nancy Meyers film paired with the breezy sophistication of Serena & Lily, the couple curated a celebration at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club that seamlessly blended whimsical floral patterns with a laid-back beach aesthetic.
Working closely with the team at A Sweet Affair Weddings & Events, the couple established a design foundation built on soft, timeless coastal tones. Navy and light blue served as the primary palette, complemented by crisp accents of green and white. This cohesive color story was carried across every element of the weekend, utilizing classic and whimsical blooms—including white hydrangeas, garden roses, and delphinium—to soften and elevate the spaces. Natural textures like wicker and rattan brought a distinct coastal charm to the decor, while watercolor custom paper goods designed by Laura Adison Designs greeted guests with playful coastal elements and colors from the moment they arrived.
The roots of the celebration run deep, tracing back to a summer in 2016. Madison and Tim first crossed paths in Japan during a summer NCAA international lacrosse program that both of their teams were participating in following their sophomore year of college. Over the course of the two-week trip, they realized they shared numerous mutual connections—including the fact that Madison grew up with Tim’s cousin, establishing what Madison fondly describes as "invisible strings." Though they stayed loosely in touch after the trip, romance did not blossom until three years later after they had graduated, when they unexpectedly reconnected at a friend’s party in Washington, D.C., where Tim is from.
Years later, the relationship came full circle when Tim proposed in Delaware at the beach, a destination where the couple spends every summer alongside Tim’s family. Choosing Rehoboth Beach Country Club for their wedding venue was a deeply personal tribute to those cherished summer memories, anchoring their wedding weekend in a landscape that already held profound meaning for their relationship.
The weekend’s festivities officially kicked off with a rehearsal dinner hosted at Sazio Rehoboth the evening before the wedding. Family members and the wedding party gathered for an intimate evening that included portraits captured along the iconic North Surf Avenue. The night unfolded with a series of open mic speeches and heartfelt toasts, setting a warm and familial tone for the days ahead.
On the wedding day itself, the ceremony was held on the 19th hole’s lawn, offering guests sweeping views overlooking Rehoboth Bay. The altar was framed by a striking floral half moon, while rattan compotes lined the aisle, seamlessly integrating the coastal design motif into the natural landscape.
Following the ceremony, cocktail hour spilled naturally onto the clubhouse balcony. Guests were immediately greeted by a bespoke rattan bar and a custom wallpapered escort card wall, surrounded by personalized details including custom cups, coozies, napkins, stirs, and matchboxes. Continuing the coastal theme, signature drinks—consisting of an orange and grapefruit crush, a true Rehoboth Beach classic, and a timeless old fashioned—were passed to arriving guests on Ballard Designs serving trays.
The reception took place inside the clubhouse ballroom, which was meticulously styled to reflect the couple’s refined vision. Stradley Davidson linens graced the tables, mixed and matched across a long head table and round guest tables. Rattan chargers, table lamps, and accents were woven among white and green florals, creating a warm, inviting glow as evening approached. As the sun began to set over the 19th green and the adjacent dock, Madison and Tim briefly stepped away from the party to capture golden hour portraits along the waterfront before returning to join their guests.
The reception space also featured a clever nod to the weekend’s overarching design scheme: the exact Serena & Lily wallpaper used on the escort card wall was repurposed as the band stage’s backdrop, tying the room’s aesthetic together seamlessly. The celebration ultimately concluded with an energetic, electric dance floor, punctuated by a fun and stylish bridal outfit change for Madison from designer Staud, before the evening drew to a close.
The Fashion
Madison’s bridal look was a masterclass in classic elegance. She wore a stunning wedding gown designed by Martina Liana Bridal, sourced through the bridal salon Elegance by Roya. The gown featured a striking floral embossing texture, shaped into an A-line silhouette complete with a full skirt, a sweeping train, and a matching off-the-shoulder cowl. She completed her ensemble with a pair of woven white Jimmy Choo slingback heels and a dramatic, long cathedral-length veil.
Breaking from tradition, Madison’s bridesmaids each selected their own unique dress in a cohesive blue and white patterned motif. Sourced from a variety of contemporary designers including Cara Cara and Agua By Agua Bendita, the mismatched dresses added a whimsical, textured layer to the bridal party’s visual presentation.
Meanwhile, Tim and his groomsmen suited up in sharp tuxedos from State & Liberty. The groomsmen wore classic black-and-white two-piece tuxedos, while the groom stood out in a sophisticated navy blue tuxedo featuring black accents and lapels.
The Details
The floral design for the entire weekend was helmed by Styled DE, who brought Madison and Tim’s vision of coastal-classic blooms to life. White hydrangeas, garden roses, and delphinium dominated the arrangements, appearing everywhere from the ceremony’s floral half moon to the delicate bud vases scattered across the reception tables. The extensive use of wicker and rattan textures—seen in the aisle compotes, the cocktail bar, the reception chargers, and the lounge accents—grounded the design in coastal casualness, while Laura Adison Designs’ custom stationery added an artistic, personalized touch.
For dessert, the couple opted for a classic, understated wedding cake crafted by Carolina Sugar Fairy. The two-tier white cake was finished simply with delicate white florals. Rather than making a grand production of the moment, the cake cutting was kept low-key and unannounced, tucked quietly into a corner of the ballroom as the lively celebration carried on uninterrupted around them.
