Skye Wheatley Calls It Quits on Seven-Year Renovation Nightmare of Dilapidated Gold Coast Mansion

Australian influencer Skye Wheatley has finally surrendered to the mounting pressures of property development, putting her dilapidated Gold Coast mansion on the market after a turbulent seven-year renovation saga.

The social media star shared the bittersweet news with her followers in a candid Instagram Story post on Monday, admitting that she could no longer avoid selling the sprawling Spanish-inspired estate known as Casa Grande. Purchased for $975,000 back in 2019, the property quickly evolved from a promising fixer-upper into what the former reality star previously branded a "f***ing disaster."

"Yes, we are selling the mansion. Sad but exciting, because the financial burden has been hectic and it’s time to go," Skye told her followers, addressing the heavy toll the unfinished project has taken on her life.

The decision comes amid a challenging period for the 32-year-old, who recently split from her long-term partner and co-owner of the property, Lachlan Waugh. The pair, who share two young sons, Forest, seven, and Bear, five, officially ended their tumultuous eight-year relationship earlier this year.

Speaking openly to her audience, Skye did not hold back her frustrations regarding how her former partner has been handling the separation while she remains deeply entrenched in the responsibilities of liquidating their shared assets. She expressed visible exasperation at the stark contrast in how they are coping with the emotional fallout of the breakup and the property sale.

"Two stressed people, going through a lot… Well, I feel like my emotions have been more heavy and men just go out and f**k new girls and do whatever they do and distract themselves with someone else," she shared on social media.

"In my opinion, that’s really weak. Just deal with it dude. Just go through the emotions, feel the pain. It’s really not fun, but I don’t know if every guy does that."

To date, Lachlan has not made any public announcements regarding a new relationship, and the former couple have unfollowed each other across their respective social media platforms.

Determined to maintain a hands-on approach, Skye revealed that she is taking charge of the marketing process herself and has expressed a strong desire to run a private sale. She even invited her dedicated community of followers to participate in the process directly.

"I’m gonna be at the open home, so if you wanna just come see the house and meet me, come, it’ll be fun. You guys can see the house in person," she told fans.

However, Skye implied that her preferred method of handling the sale privately did not sit well with everyone involved. While acknowledging that some may view her ambitions as unconventional, she defended her capability to oversee the transaction without relying entirely on traditional agency methods.

"I wanted to do a private sale and see if I can sell the house myself, but when I mentioned that to someone they were not happy," she explained.

"Yeah, I get it. People think I’m a f***ing idiot. All good. I think I could do it. I can negotiate. I know what we need. I know what the house is worth. I know the potential it has."

Though the grand estate remains notoriously unfinished, the influencer suggested that its raw, unconventional state could present a lucrative opportunity for the right buyer—such as an experienced builder, a developer, or an enterprising Airbnb host.

"You could have weddings there. You could use it as a photo shoot location. There are endless things you could do with it that I wish that we did with it," she reflected.

Admitting that parting ways with the property will bring an emotional wave of tears, Skye emphasized that she is ultimately "sick of the emotional s**t" that has clouded the project for nearly a decade. In the wake of her split from Lachlan and the ongoing sale negotiations, the social media personality has temporarily relocated to live with her mother as she charts a new path forward.

The road to this point has been defined by endless delays. Ever since Skye and Lachlan acquired Casa Grande in 2019, the renovation journey has been plagued by severe budget blowouts, continuous construction hurdles, and immense psychological strain. At the height of the project’s difficulties, the family was even forced to live in a half-renovated section of the house while Skye was pregnant with their second child.

The property disaster mirrors the broader turbulence in the couple’s relationship. Despite sharing two children and building businesses together—including Lachlan’s venture with the Shopfit Co—the pair experienced numerous separations over the years, culminating in a definitive split. Their previous break in October 2025 saw Skye open up on the Nova podcast Skye & Callum about the immense pressures they faced while attempting to co-parent amidst the chaos of business ownership, young children, and a relentless home renovation. At the time, she noted that the compounding stresses made it "very hard to understand each other sometimes."

The property sale and relationship breakdown compound an already testing year for the prominent internet personality. In August, headlines emerged regarding a legal matter when Skye was charged with drink driving on the Gold Coast.

The Big Brother Australia star ultimately pleaded guilty to being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the prescribed alcohol limit, resulting in a $700 fine and a five-month driving disqualification. Seeking to clarify the circumstances to her followers, Skye addressed the incident directly online.

"I wasn’t actually drink driving. I got charged with being in possession of a motor vehicle while over the limit. I will talk about it soon," she said.

"Definitely not proud of my actions. Have done a Queensland Traffic Offenders Program course plus going to therapy."

As Skye prepares to close the chapter on Casa Grande and transition into a new living situation with her mother, the impending sale marks the end of an exhausting era on the Gold Coast.
