High fashion and mass-market retail are once again colliding as luxury designer Joseph Altuzarra teams up with Old Navy for the brand’s third major American designer collaboration. Following successful previous partnerships with Anna Sui and Christopher John Rogers, Old Navy is set to introduce a fall collection that bridges the gap between high-end runway aesthetics and accessible, everyday wardrobe essentials. For Altuzarra, treating the collaboration "like a capital ‘F’ fashion" line meant approaching the project with the exact same creative rigor and storytelling depth that he applies to his own eponymous ready-to-wear label.

The inspiration behind the Old Navy x Altuzarra collection draws heavily from classic Victorian literature and atmospheric landscapes. Altuzarra notes that he frequently initiates his own collections with a book as a primary reference point. Fresh off reading literary classics like Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice, the designer envisioned a wardrobe fit for a windswept Scottish moor. The resulting collection successfully blends the theatrical narrative elements of Altuzarra’s luxury work with Old Navy’s casual heritage, transporting shoppers to the rolling hills of Scotland through a thoughtful autumn lineup featuring velvet floral dresses, classic Fair Isle sweaters, and intricately embroidered barn jackets.

The collection also channels a subtle 90s grunge sensibility, a stylistic choice underscored by the designer’s affinity for bohemian, windswept tiered skirts. To bring this aesthetic to life, the campaign enlists style icon Alexa Chung. Widely regarded as a definitive name synonymous with indie grunge and effortless cool-girl style, Chung’s presence in the campaign ensures that the nostalgic, rebellious undertones of the collection resonate clearly with fashion consumers.

Alongside the romantic literary references and indie-grunge influences, Altuzarra has introduced a notable runway trend to the Old Navy customer base: balloon pants. A silhouette that was recently introduced on the designer’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway, the extra high-waisted balloon trouser pants bring a bold, sculptural shape to the high street retailer. While such voluminous trousers can sometimes spark debate on the runway, Altuzarra expressed genuine excitement about translating the avant-garde silhouette into an accessible piece for a wider audience.

In a first for Old Navy’s ongoing designer collaboration series, the Altuzarra partnership extends beyond adult womenswear to include matching pieces for girls and toddlers. As a parent himself, Altuzarra expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to design scaled-down versions of the collection for children, allowing families to coordinate their wardrobes with the same sophisticated fall motifs.

The expansive collection comprises a comprehensive range of garments and accessories designed to complete a robust autumn wardrobe. Alongside the standout Scarf Maxi Dress, which Altuzarra singles out as one of his absolute favorite pieces, the lineup features the Embellished Bomber Barn Jacket, Velvet Maxi Dresses, a classic Wool Overcoat, Fair Isle Mock-Neck Sweaters, and Handkerchief Midi Dresses. Accessories also play a prominent role in the collaboration, offering satin scarves, velvet drawstring baguette bags, vegan leather gloves, and cozy sherpa jackets adorned with traditional Fair Isle patterns. Additional pieces include satin lace camis roles, oversized 2-in-1 hooded parkas, midi tea dresses, long-sleeve button-down tops, high-waisted baggy wide-legged jeans, jersey off-the-shoulder tops, fitted blzers, tiered swing maxi skirts, and scarf tank tops.

The Old Navy x Altuzarra collection officially launches on September 30, available for purchase on OldNavy.com and in select Old Navy retail stores nationwide. Dedicated brand cardmembers will have exclusive early access to shop the highly anticipated collection 24 hours prior to the general public launch, starting on September 29.
