An open-air celebration overlooking Oʻahu’s majestic coastline brought together honest hospitality, big island flavors, and deeply personal touches as Brenda and Kameron celebrated their wedding day at Palikū Gardens. Set against the natural beauty of the venue, the event seamlessly blended authentic Hawaiian traditions with creative modern details, offering guests an unforgettable immersive experience from the afternoon cocktail hour late into the starlit evening.
Food & Drink
The culinary experience for the evening was built around comfort, community, and bold island flavors. Cocktail hour set an inviting tone with a gourmet shave ice truck provided by Kalele Eats, offering a refreshing treat under the warm Hawaiian sun. Alongside the shave ice, Stir Beverage poured a selection of craft libations featuring punchy, imaginative flavor profiles. Among the highlights were the tequila-and-serrano "Climate Change," the rum-and-ube "Ube Crazy," and the "Bailey’s Tequila Blues"—a blueberry-ginger tequila nod to the couple’s dog, whose likeness was honored on custom-printed napkins.
For the main meal, Ke Nui Kitchen delivered a soul-satisfying dinner that began with a crisp North Shore farm salad. The starter featured local goat cheese, fire-roasted beets, and candied macadamia nuts tossed in a vibrant lilikoi balsamic dressing. Guests were then offered a choice of entrees between fresh local Mahi Mahi or tender braised short ribs in a rich kalbi marinade, topped with scallions and crispy garlic-onion straws. The entrees were paired with comforting sides including garlic mashed potatoes, stir-fried green beans, and warm garlic bread.
The dessert service began with a wedding cake offered in pink champagne or rich chocolate flavors with fresh strawberries. As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed a series of late-night indulgences, including warm local malasadas, classic affogatos, and an artisanal gelato bar that kept energy levels high for the rest of the celebration.
Florals & Decor
The visual landscape of the wedding was brought to life by Vanessa, the owner of La Flor Events, who crafted organic, living art installations designed to feel fluid rather than rigid. To properly define the reception space beneath the open skies, Brenda collaborated with Gia of Love & Linen Hawaii on custom tent draping. During the setup, the team made an unexpected discovery when they found that the reverse side of their selected fabric featured a soft green and cream geometric pattern, which immediately became the striking focal point of the valance.
The tabletop design was curated using high-end pieces from Kalele Rentals, which supplied all the flatware, plates, chargers, and glassware. These were complemented by BBJ La Tavola Liv Sky linens, custom-bordered napkins, and ceramic vessels. To complete the ambiance, woven rattan lanterns from Aloha Artisans were placed throughout the space, casting a warm, golden glow as night fell over the gardens.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake design was intentionally minimalistic and clean, serving as a subtle, elegant canvas for the event’s ongoing storytelling. Elevated with live succulent accents that quietly echoed a cherished first-date tradition, the multi-tiered confection complemented the natural surroundings of Palikū Gardens. Guests could choose between pink champagne cake and rich chocolate cake, both served with fresh strawberries and light whipped cream.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
The ceremony opened with a deeply moving, traditional blessing led by Kalehua Wedding Blessings, grounding the celebration in authentic Hawaiian culture and emotional reverence. To keep guests comfortable in the warm island sun, delicate parasols were provided at the ceremony site alongside a custom-painted surfboard that served as a meaningful homage to the couple’s deep-rooted connection to the islands.
Following the exchange of vows, the energy transformed into a high-octane party atmosphere driven by Aloha Event DJ, an interactive photo booth by Flash Lab, and a custom vintage audio phone booth where guests stepped inside to record personal audio messages for the bride and groom. To cap off the night on an unforgettable high note, Akahi Productions amazed the crowd with a live fire dancer performance. The routine culminated in an electrifying moment when the performer invited Kameron to eat fire right alongside him under the stars.
Special Details That Defined the Day
Throughout the celebration, several distinctive elements reflected the couple’s personal history and shared hobbies. On their very first date, Kameron gave Brenda a simple succulent—a sweet gesture that evolved into a shared tradition of growing them at home. To honor where their love story began, succulents served as the quiet design thread connecting every single aspect of the wedding day. They were delicately incorporated into the invitation suites, custom postage stamps, Brenda’s bridal bouquet, the interactive seating display, the dessert design, and each reception tablescape.
In a nod to Oʻahu’s pristine coastline, Anthony of Designed with Aloha constructed a custom sea glass seating chart wall featuring a stunning gradient of ocean blues and greens. Rather than reading a standard paper chart, guests searched the display for their own handcrafted hexagonal sea glass coasters created by artisan studio Tumble Works. These personalized pieces displayed individual table assignments and doubled as meaningful keepsakes for guests to take home.
Reflecting their favorite pastimes of playing mini golf and taking trips to Las Vegas, the couple brought both hobbies to life for their guests in a completely custom way. Designed with Aloha built a full miniature golf course exclusively for the wedding, complete with personalized scorecards and monogrammed golf balls displayed in heirloom porcelain vases. Additionally, Just Like Vegas Hawaii provided an alfresco outdoor casino gaming lounge during cocktail hour, creating an interactive, energetic atmosphere filled with connection and laughter.
