Every single detail at Kylee and Connor’s spring celebration carried a distinct piece of their personal story, transforming a traditional wedding into an immersive experience for everyone in attendance. Set against the charming backdrop of The French Farmhouse Venue, the couple’s special day was brought to life through a vibrant garden palette of blue, green, pink, and yellow. With meticulous planning and design by Twigs and Twine Events, the venue was transformed into a springtime wonderland filled with delicate pastel blooms, a bespoke toile design, and a custom logo that made appearances everywhere from the dance floor to the coffee cups. Captured masterfully through the lens of Reilly Erin Photography, the day balanced elegance with relaxed celebration, culminating in a lively custom trucker hat toss from the balcony.
The Planning
Design, Vibe, and Vision
Kylee and Connor envisioned a wedding day centered around celebration, presence, and the people who mean the most to them. Rather than leaning into rigid formalities, they wanted their wedding to feel both celebratory and relaxed, with every design choice authentically reflecting who they are as a couple.
The aesthetic drew inspiration from a fresh spring garden palette, brought to life through personalized touches at every turn. From subtle homages to their alma mater, Baylor, to a custom-painted Jo Malone perfume, the visual identity of the day was deeply personal. A bespoke toile design featured elements central to their lives and shared story, while their gorgeous custom logo was woven seamlessly throughout the day. Appearing on the dance floor, coffee carts, cups, and various decorative elements, each detail carried a piece of their narrative. The result was a gathering that felt warm, bright, and effortlessly personal, full of the little elements that made the day unmistakably theirs.
Proposal Story
The foundation of their wedding day traces back to a deeply meaningful proposal. Connor proposed to Kylee at their favorite walking spot at Baylor University, anchoring the moment in the place where so much of their story originally began. He told Kylee they were simply going on a date to celebrate their anniversary, ensuring she had no inkling of what was about to happen.
What she did not know was that their families had traveled into town to witness the milestone firsthand. Following the proposal, they headed to their favorite local coffee shop, where a group of close friends was waiting to surprise them with an engagement party of their own. From the initial question to the celebrations that followed, it was a day filled with all of the people and places that meant the most to them, setting the tone for the community-focused wedding that would follow.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
For her walk down the aisle, the bride donned an effortlessly chic Anthropologie gown. Before she ever stepped foot into a traditional bridal shop, Kylee already knew she wanted a timeless, strapless silhouette. The moment she slipped into this particular gown, she knew it was the one. The dress featured a drop waist that added a subtle, modern touch to the classic design, creating a look that felt both fashion-forward and completely true to Kylee’s timeless personal style.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridal party fit seamlessly into the overarching color palette and design details of the day. Dressed in soft shades of blue with sweet bow detailing at the neckline, the bridesmaids surrounded Kylee as she entered this new chapter of life. Notably, Kylee was supported by women from every distinct chapter of her journey—ranging from her future sister-in-law to cherished college roommates and lifelong hometown friends. Having so many of the women who have shaped her story by her side made the exchange of vows feel even more profound and meaningful.
The Details
Food and Drink
It wouldn’t be a Gerdes wedding without a nod to Texas culture, and Chuy’s made a memorable appearance to feed the guests. Attendees from near and far had the opportunity to enjoy a beloved Texas staple: good old-fashioned Tex-Mex, complete with signature creamy jalapeño dip.
Signature drinks added to the bright springtime vibes, as guests sipped on refreshing watermelon and blackberry margaritas during cocktail hour. Additionally, artisanal lattes by Night Owl Coffee Cart served as an afternoon pick-me-up before the evening reception festivities officially kicked off.
Florals and Decor
The florals felt like a springtime garden miraculously brought to life, with bright pastels and delicate blooms complementing the aesthetic of The French Farmhouse Venue. Every piece of the design was thoughtfully tailored to Kylee and Connor’s shared history, with pops of warmth and color woven throughout the property.
Custom signage greeted guests as they arrived at both the ceremony and reception spaces. Meanwhile, the entrance to the cocktail hour was lined with curated photographs highlighting special moments from throughout their relationship. After the ceremony, guests mingled over signature drinks, enjoyed custom-lapped coffees, challenged one another to a game of cornhole, and watched a live watercolor artist create one-of-a-kind keepsakes to take home as favors.
When it came to the reception, the space avoided generic design entirely. It was intentionally crafted to celebrate Kylee, Connor, their story, their individual personalities, and the community that supported them along the way. From the smallest decorative accents to the overarching atmosphere, every element contributed to a warm, joyful, and deeply personalized environment.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake struck a balance between a classic look and playful pops of color. Adorned with delicate florals that directly echoed the garden-inspired design of the day, the confection was finished with Kylee and Connor’s signature custom logo. Displayed prominently on a stunning pedestal within the reception space, the cake served as an elegant detail that felt entirely at home among the rest of the carefully curated celebration.
Readings, Ceremony Music, and Faith
A central pillar of Kylee and Connor’s wedding day was their shared Christian faith, which has long been foundational to both of their lives and to the marriage they were entering. Keeping Christ at the center of their celebration was of deep importance to them, a conviction that remained evident from the processional to the final exit.
After officially becoming husband and wife, Kylee and Connor partook in communion as a tangible way of honoring Christ and remembering His work in their lives. Their officiant spoke at length about the deeper purpose of their marriage, pointing beyond the immediate joy of the wedding day to an eternal hope found in their faith.
A Memorable Finale
To cap off the evening, Kylee and Connor orchestrated a memorable exit for their guests. The celebration concluded with a custom trucker hat toss straight from the balcony, sending everyone home with a final, lighthearted souvenir from a day that celebrated their unique story.
