Pinterest is turning to artificial intelligence to help consumers move past the initial phase of searching for product inspiration and into the realm of practical visualization, enabling them to see what it might actually look like to redesign a space or compare home decor options as they would appear in their own rooms. On Thursday, the visual discovery platform announced the beta launch of a new consumer-facing feature called "Restyle" in the United States and Canada, which is directly powered by the proprietary framework known as Pinterest Intelligence.
The foundation of Pinterest Intelligence combines advanced Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia Dynamo with robust open-source models and Pinterest-built technology, the company shared in an announcement earlier in the week. This powerful new technological partnership will significantly improve the Pinterest Assistant’s ability to handle complex visual search requests, seamlessly turning people’s routine searches into actionable signals for AI-driven discovery, shopping, and more.
With the introduction of Restyle, users will be able to take a photograph of their physical space, then test and compare different design options directly within their own homes by prompting the artificial intelligence to perform specific tasks. Users can instruct the tool to add wall art, furniture, accessories, or other home decor elements—including specific items pulled from images they have already found and saved on Pinterest—or change the room’s lighting, paint colors, plants, and much more. Furthermore, individuals can click on individual items already present in the room to swap them out, completely erase them from the generated image, or execute further custom edits. Alternatively, users can ask the AI to visualize their room in a completely different aesthetic style, choosing from popular lookbooks such as "bohemian," "industrial," "whimsical," "dopamine," or other trendy design directions.

Though the concept of restyling rooms digitally is not an entirely novel idea, as virtual room makeovers have long been a popular consumer use case for various generative artificial intelligence assistants, adding the feature directly to Pinterest could allow people to accomplish significantly more with the items they have thoughtfully saved over time for inspiration and design ideas. By seeing these products rendered realistically in their own personal spaces, consumers may feel a greater sense of confidence and be far more likely to purchase the physical items they have saved to their inspiration boards, effectively completing the commercial funnel from initial pinning to final purchase.
This innovative feature was first officially teased at Pinterest’s annual Pinterest Presents business event, a gathering where the company also introduced a suite of new visual search ads, app promotion features, and a variety of other high-powered tools designed specifically for advertisers and brands looking to capture user intent.
The Restyle feature is initially rolling out only as an early preview beta for users in the United States and Canada, but the company plans to make the tool available more broadly in the coming weeks.
