Tayion Collection Reups With Peerless Clothing as Detroit-Based Men’s Brand Eyes Major Expansion

Tayion Collection is doubling down on its partnership with Peerless Clothing, securing a strategic renewal that the Detroit-based men’s luxury brand hopes will serve as a powerful launchpad into new product categories.

The menswear brand, founded and helmed by Montee Tayion Holland, has officially renewed its licensing agreement with Peerless Clothing, the industry giant that has served as its manufacturing and distribution partner since 2021. Under the terms of the newly minted three-year agreement, which officially goes into effect on January 1, Peerless will continue to manufacture and distribute Tayion Collection’s comprehensive line of men’s tailored clothing throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The extensive licensing agreement covers a wide breadth of formal and semi-formal menswear categories, including classic suits, suit separates, tailored sport coats, sophisticated vests, dress pants, elegant tuxedos, structured overcoats, and weather-ready raincoats. Distribution for the collection will remain targeted at top-tier department stores and premier specialty menswear retailers across North America. Furthermore, the newly signed contract includes a built-in option for a three-year renewal, ensuring that the collaborative relationship has ample runway for long-term growth and stability.

Beyond cementing its footprint in traditional tailored apparel, the renewed partnership strategically positions Tayion Collection for a broader lifestyle evolution. According to company statements, the alliance is designed to act as a foundational stepping stone, paving the way for the brand to expand into additional product categories, most notably sportswear, neckwear, and other complementary men’s accessories.

For Holland, a United States Marine Corps veteran who originally established the Tayion brand in 2004, the continuation of the partnership marks a pivotal milestone in the company’s ongoing corporate evolution. Over the past two decades, Holland has steadily carved out a distinct niche for Tayion within the contemporary menswear landscape, blending classic tailoring traditions with a sharp, modern sensibility.

Tayion Collection Extends License With Peerless Clothing

Reflecting on the renewed alliance, Holland emphasized the strategic importance of aligning with a manufacturing partner that commands deep industry expertise and robust retail relationships. This partnership represents an important next chapter for Tayion Collection, he noted, adding that Peerless possesses an exceptional understanding of both tailored clothing and the intricate dynamics of the modern retail landscape. According to the designer and founder, the agreement provides the necessary infrastructure to bring the distinct Tayion aesthetic to a significantly broader consumer audience across the North American market.

Peerless Clothing International Inc. shares the enthusiasm for the extended collaboration. Dan Orwig, president of Peerless Clothing, pointed to the unique market position that Tayion has established over the years as a primary driver for the contract renewal. Tayion Collection has built a distinctive point of view in contemporary menswear, Orwig observed, expressing the company’s pleasure in expanding its relationship with the brand.

Orwig further highlighted how the partnership bridges two distinct strengths within the apparel sector, bringing together Tayion’s strong brand identity and its proven connection with today’s consumer, alongside Peerless’ unmatched expertise in tailored clothing manufacturing, operational efficiency, and retail distribution. He emphasized that the company looks forward to building the business together across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The successful negotiation of the agreement was guided by industry veteran Jeff Tweedy, managing director of BMBIRD Consultant, who served as an advisor on the deal. Tweedy underscored the transformative potential that the partnership holds for the independent menswear label. He expressed his belief that Peerless provides Tayion with the ideal operational platform to become a top priority in the men’s tailored clothing sector, while simultaneously opening the door for best-in-class licensing partners across other vital categories.

The continuation of the Tayion and Peerless partnership comes at a dynamic time for the broader menswear industry, as brands increasingly seek reliable, established infrastructure to navigate shifting retail environments and consumer demands. For Tayion Collection, which has steadily built its reputation through meticulous craftsmanship, sharp silhouettes, and a commitment to elevated style, the alliance ensures that its tailored offerings will remain a fixture on the floors of North America’s leading retail destinations.

As the January 1 start date for the new agreement approaches, both companies are focused on executing a seamless transition and scaling distribution. With a solid foundation in tailored apparel secured for the foreseeable future, combined with strategic ambitions to branch into sportswear and neckwear, Tayion Collection is well-positioned for its next phase of growth under the leadership of its founder.
